"Got It Bad" by LEISURE

LEISURE’s debut single “Got It Bad” oozes simplicity and style

Contrary to what the title of their first single might make you think, Auckland-based funk-pop quintet LEISURE has got it good. Since the April release of "Got It Bad," the New Zealanders have enjoyed a rapid rise to relevance, resulting in a tour across the UK and North America earlier this year. "Got It Bad" exudes LEISURE's self-proclaimed core philosophy of not messing around and getting straight to the point. This track is nothing but smooth funk and doesn't pretend to be anything else. While there is a noticeable absence of lyrical depth and complexity, that's not what this song is about. "Got It Bad" is all about thumping bass lines, groovy guitar riffs, softly seductive vocals, and tasteful dashes of tambourine and harmonica-like synth chords. With a voice that conjures up thoughts of a Kiwi version of Garrett Borns, LEISURE's feathery lead vocals will briefly carry you away, only to be brought back to life by the instinctive reaction to hearing this song: finger snapping, foot tapping, before you know it, you're full-on swaying to the beat.
